The consequences of an improper articulator or facebow setup can be far-reaching, leading to dissatisfied patients, costly reworks, and a tarnished professional reputation.
The two-day course is tailored to provide in-depth theoretical and practical expertise in functional dentistry and occlusion through the mastery of articulators and facebow techniques.
Despite the variety of devices termed articulators, not all meet the necessary criteria to accurately represent the temporomandibular joints and their movements. Our program helps you distinguish between articulators that merely simulate and those that accurately replicate mandibular movements, including the crucial fourth dimension.
The course covers the use of articulators and facebows in diagnosing occlusal states, planning dental procedures for optimal occlusion, and aiding in the fabrication and correction of dental restorations.
Course Objectives:
- Gain a deep understanding of articulator classifications, from non-adjustable to semi-adjustable, and their respective capabilities in replicating mandibular excursions, incisal guidance, and occlusal dynamics.
- Master the art of leveraging articulators for precise occlusal analysis, restoration fabrication, denture arrangement, and mandibular movement investigation.
- Explore advanced articulator features, such as condylar guidance, compensating curves, functional movements, and cuspal angle analysis.
- Learn about facebow types and their role in accurate model mounting within the articulator.
- Discover the advantages and limitations of different articulator designs, empowering you to make informed choices for your practice.
- Learn how to precisely transfer information taken from the patient to the dental technician in the laboratory to minimize error risks.
- Get to know and implement the protocol steps of functional dentistry in your everyday work
Each student must bring orthodontic pliers: tweed, young (for bending thick wires), de la rosa, distal cutting pliers, ligature cutting, heavy cutting, arch forming turret, 250g dynamometer *, mathews, explorer and a MAC or Windows laptop with a mouse (preferably i5 or i7).

Dr. Manol Ivchev is one of the leading doctors in dentistry as well as a leading lecturer in occlusal medicine in Bulgaria. He graduated from the School of Dental Medicine in Sofia and has attended courses of Functional Occlusion training accredited by the Slavicek Institute in Vienna – VieSID.
In his dental clinic, he offers complete patient care, from functional diagnosis to full mouth rehabilitation for the most complex cases causing functional problems with speech, chewing, breathing, and proper jaw alignment.
