Splint therapy, 13–15 May

Organiser: Complete Dental Solutions

Host:  Clinical part – ColdyDent, Laboratory part – ColdyDentLAB

Dr Ivchev’s message: Splint therapy is not a treatment for bruxism or bruxomania. Splints are not ready-to-wear devices but an individual tool designed in terms of statics and dynamics to the individual needs of the patient. The properly made splint or splints will be an adequate start to the definitive phase of the treatment. That is why this part of the treatment is extremely important.

Lecturer’s CV:

Dr. Manol Ivchev is one of the leading doctors in Dentistry as well as leading lecturer in occlusal medicine in Bulgaria.  He's graduated from School of Dental Medicine in Sofia and has attended courses  of Functional Occlusion trainings accredited by the Slavicek Institute in Vienna - VieSID. For the past 10 years he has invested in training all over the world in courses on functional orthodontics and a more holistic approach to treatment. In his dental clinic he offers complete patient care, from functional diagnosis to full mouth rehabilitation for the most complex cases, not only aesthetic but also correcting functional problems in which speech, chewing, breathing and proper jaw alignment is compromised

Course abstract:

In dentistry, different types of splints, splints to wear on different jaws, during the day and/or night are often discussed for different problems. This creates a lot of confusion among dental technicians and dentists. The correct three-dimensional position of the lower jaw in balance with the adjacent structures is a key factor for the patient’s dental health, as well as for the correct completion of the prosthetic and orthodontic phase of the treatment. The systematised methodology for determining the type and design of the splint is extremely important for the correct and trouble-free course of the splint therapy. Instrumental analyses and their interpretation are fundamental to the structuring of the treatment protocol and will be addressed in the forthcoming course.

Course objectives:

  • Main objectives: to make correct and detailed diagnoses, to develop an understanding and to improve knowledge of the benefits of splint therapy.
  • Practical objectives: to acquire and improve the skills for correct positioning of the lower jaw in the various stages of treatment through the design of the splint.

Course advantages:

After participating in this specialised course, each participant will be able to:

  • Understand and diagnose the system in which he/she works
  • Have control over his/her work
  • Understand well the transfer of information taken from the patient to the dental laboratory
  • Have clarity regarding the steps of the protocols in functional dentistry.
