Clinical and laboratory dental photography are a mandatory part of any dental practice. For me, clinical dental photography is so strongly embedded in my daily activity that I could not imagine my work without its visualisation. I encourage every fellow dentist and dental technician to enrol in this hands-on course which will give them simple protocols for clinical work using a camera, processing and systematisation of documentation. I believe that theoretical knowledge about photography, optics and light is extremely important, and I will try to give you only the necessary theoretical information and as much practical time as possible to practice high-quality clinical and laboratory photography.

Lecturer CV: Dr. Manol Ivchev is one of the leading doctors in Dentistry as well as leading lecturer in occlusal medicine in Bulgaria.  He's graduated from School of Dental Medicine in Sofia and has attended courses  of Functional Occlusion trainings accredited by the Slavicek Institute in Vienna - VieSID. For the past 10 years he has invested in training all over the world in courses on functional orthodontics and a more holistic approach to treatment. In his dental clinic he offers complete patient care, from functional diagnosis to full mouth rehabilitation for the most complex cases, not only aesthetic but also correcting functional problems in which speech, chewing, breathing and proper jaw alignment is compromised

Course abstract:

What is interesting about this course is that it is practically oriented in simple and repeatable protocols. The course is developed by a dentist/dental technician for colleagues. In daily practice, we need to know the global rules for quality clinical and laboratory dental photography and to have simple protocols for work and documentation processing.


Course objectives:

Main objectives: The students to gain knowledge and skills so that they know why, how and when as soon as on “Monday”!

Practical objectives: Each participant should be able to work comfortably with the entire photographic equipment, be able to arrange and process the documentation, and be able to interpret it.

Course advantages: The only clinical and laboratory course in dental photography where knowledge is gained through practice.

Day 1:

8:30 – 9:00 – Registration and breakfast

9:00 – 10:30 – Introduction to clinical and laboratory photography. Methods of communication between the clinic and the laboratory.

10:30 – 11:00 – Coffee break

11:00 – 12:30 – Choice of camera, lenses, lighting. Demonstration. Practice.

12:30 – 13:30 – Lunch

13:30 – 15:00 – Accessories for intra- and extraoral photography. Demonstration. Practice.

15:00 – 15:30 – Coffee break

15:30 – 17:00 – Insight into camera settings. Demonstration – clinical and laboratory.

17:00 – 17:30 – Coffee break

17:30 – 18:30 – Lighting – types and settings. Demonstration – clinical and laboratory.

 

 Day 2:

8:30 – 9:00 – Breakfast

9:00 – 11:00 – Demonstration – meaning ISO – W/B. Shutterspeed / Focusing – intraoral, extraoral. Macrophotography.

11:00 – 11:30 – Coffee break

11:30 – 13:00 – Hands-on classes: photographs – clinical, laboratory, in a photo studio. Microphotographs. Tips and tricks.

13:00 – 14:00 – Lunch

14:00 – 15:30 – Hands-on classes – post-processing, organising documentation (Laptop required; if you don’t have one, we’ll provide ours)

15:30 – 16:00 – Coffee break

16:00 – 17:30 – Interpretation of the information. Primary diagnosis. DSD.

17:30 – 18:00 – Discussion. Concluding part.
