Orthorevolution – 04 - 05 February 2023

Organiser: Complete Dental Solutions

Host:  Clinical part – Coldy Dent, Laboratory part – Coldy Dent LAB

Dr Ivchev’s message: Orthodontics is not just about arranging teeth in dental arches. Orthodontics can solve many aesthetic and functional problems, and create a new functional environment. Orthodontics can create an easier and more functional prosthetic environment in multidisciplinary cases. I call this orthodontics Biophysiological orthodontics. This is a revolutionary new philosophy that is in balance with function, TMJ, respects function and gives new horizons for treatment.

Lecturer’s CV: Lecturer’s CV: Dr MANOL IVCHEV
Founder of COLDY DENT Functional Atelier, graduated in dental medicine at the Faculty of Dental Medicine, Sofia. He has been an intern in an orthodontic practice for six years. His interests are entirely focused on functional dentistry. Attended courses at Dawson and Logal. Completed a number of training events accredited by the Slavicek Institute in Vienna – VieSID. As a result he became the youngest instructor at VieSID. He acquired the right to teach the Philosophy of Prof. Rudolf Slavicek in Bulgaria. In his practice he adheres to Slavicek’s protocols for functional treatment and diagnostics as they are aimed at complex treatment. He has completed all levels of dental morphology and modelling with Janos Mako. He increased his knowledge in functional orthodontics through an individual course in Romania. Dr Ivchev also holds a certificate as a dentist in lingual orthodontics issued by the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Dentistry in Daegu, South Korea. He also holds a certificate for the treatment of orthodontic anomalies using myofunctional devices, as well as for orthodontics supported by micro-implants, also issued by the University of Dentistry in South Korea. Completed individual training in functional orthodontics at the University of Dental Medicine in Bogotá, Colombia. Completed individual training in functional orthodontics and physiotherapy according to the protocol of Mariano Rocabado. Completed individual training in functional dental technology and functional Wax-Up class I and II III. Completed a course on Digital Smile Design and Skin Concept in Luxembourg delivered by Christian Coachman, Florin Cofar, Paulo Kano, Josef Kunkel, Livio Yoshinagа.

Course abstract: Proper understanding of the diagnosis of deformations of the teeth and jaw, their aetiology, adequate understanding of the growth and development of the individual give a new perspective on solving orthodontic cases, thus allowing to create an adequate treatment strategy. In this course we will consider each case in three dimensions, and based on case demonstrations you will understand how to “read” the problem and act. We will discuss strategies for action that will provide new opportunities to treat without extraction (premolars, incisors).

Combining function and aesthetics in planning and treatment.

ArchDevelopment, or the development of the shape of the dentition. Narrow smile showing 6 teeth and wide smile showing 12 teeth: difference and anatomical features. Development of the shape of dental arches. Archwire sequence and shape selection for clinical situations. How to go beyond the standard archwire change protocol. Bone remodelling – principles and management.

Architecture of the dentition. Number of teeth, or how easy it is to control the movement of teeth in 3D. Shape of the dental alveolar arches. Anatomical and clinical principles of planning and treatment.

Occlusal plane. Modern view on the development of occlusal pathologies in terms of etiopathogenesis, and principles of treatment and planning. Sato’ concept and a look through the prism of the XXI century.

Why extraction and asymmetric extraction of premolars should be avoided.

The development of modern orthodontics: the evolution of orthodontic appliances from Angle arc to systemic passive self-ligation with reduced friction using H4 and Pitts21 braces. The evolution of the Angle-Tweed-Roth-Damon-Pitts-Arnett-Sato philosophies: from expansion to distalisation of crowding, from premolar extraction to wisdom tooth extraction. Basic principles of modern orthodontics: micro- and macro-aesthetics.

    Course objectives:

    • Main objectives: to make correct and detailed diagnoses, to develop an understanding and to improve knowledge of the benefits of splint therapy.
    • Practical objectives: to acquire and improve the skills for correct positioning of the lower jaw in the various stages of treatment through the design of the splint.

    Course advantages:

After participating in this specialised course, each participant will be able to:

    • Understand orthodontic diagnoses and diagnose the system in which he/she works
    • Have control over the actions in his/her work
    • Be familiar with the principles of biofunctional orthodontics
    • Be able to treat patients without extraction
    • Understand the different strategies for using miniscrews
    • Make the most of the advantages of passive self-ligating braces
    • Plan and find solutions for severe deformations of the teeth and jaw
